Owner, Butcher in Chief, Proud Dad, Occasional Golfer
Owner of Yard Bull Meats, Tyler wears a lot of hats—most of them slightly meat-splattered. He’s a former “Best Chef in Roanoke” and a 40 Under 40 honoree, though he’ll probably just joke about it if you bring it up.
When he’s not at the shop, he’s chasing his two perfect kids, Eloise and Julian, around the house, with his dogs Dill Pickles and Brisket never far behind. He’s married to Marion, a brilliant MS specialist and the real MVP of the family.
Driven by a love of great food, good people, and a well-made sausage, Tyler built YBM to be the kind of place where craft matters, community comes first, and nobody takes themselves too seriously.
Lead Butcher, Garden Whisperer, Friendly Face of YBM
Matt Jones (who?!) is the lead butcher at YBM and the guy you're most likely to see smiling behind the counter—unless he's deep into breaking down a side of beef with surgical precision. Hailing from Lynchburg, VA, Matt made his way to Roanoke after a culinary stint in Asheville, where he honed his skills as a chef.
Off the clock, Matt’s in his element—digging in the dirt, tending to his thriving garden, and hanging with his pack of four-legged companions. Calm, kind, and always ready with a solid cut or a solid joke, Matt brings both roots and soul to the shop. Oh yeah, he can play drums like a bad ass too.
Utility Knife, Bread Whisperer, Certified Nice Guy™
Jacob is nice. Like, really nice. He’s our ace in the hole—the one who steps up in any pinch, no questions asked. While juggling classes and working at YBM, Jacob somehow still finds time to bake killer bread, sling perfect pizzas, finesse a Weber grill like a pro, and drop thoughtful takes on wine.
His best friend Bernie (species: undisclosed, but probably excellent) keeps him grounded, but make no mistake—Jacob’s low-key a culinary savant hiding in plain sight. Quiet confidence, sharp skills, and good vibes all around.
Production Manager, Sausage Sensei, #1 Billy Strings Fan
Better known around the shop as Big Bad BraXXXdaddy, Braxton has taken the YBM sausage game to legendary heights. Whether he’s crafting the perfect grind or dialing in spice blends, BBBD brings equal parts precision and personality to the butcher block.
Outside the shop, you’ll find him teaching cooking classes, lending a hand at BBQ competitions, or deep in the mud at a good old-fashioned boucherie. If there’s smoke, fire, or meat involved, Braxton’s there—with a grin, a knife, and probably a Billy Strings playlist.
Captain Wayne, Stew Master, Resident Legend
Wayne hails from Maryland and brings serious East Coast energy to YBM. One minute he’s making the best seafood chowder or crab cake you’ve ever had, the next he’s fixing your car in the parking lot like it’s no big deal.
Reliable, talented, and full of heart—he’s the kind of teammate every shop wishes they had.
